Badonkadonk Butt

I hate the idea of fast food... the great American contribution. I think it's fine when you're traveling or in a pinch on time, but really- it tastes like wax and is about as nutritious. So when I had a baby, I decided that we'd wait until he was at least two years old to introduce him to french fries and the like. Little did I know how crappy my resolve was when a hungry little boy was concerned!

I gave my precious little baby FRIED food (Or does Wendy's bake their stuff? If they do, tell me-- relieve some of my guilt). Ugh. I'm still ashamed of myself, though he didn't seem to mind. The nuggets were all white meat, and french fries are potatoes and therefore somehow not QUITE as bad as cardboard... but yep. My boy's now a REAL American.

It's not that WE (Derek and I) don't eat crap. (I'm going for another Red Vine as I post this.) It's just that too many Americans (myself included) are going to die young and live pathetic lives 'cause they're too full of high-fructose corn syrup, saturated fat and MSG to function fully. I'm not so "left wing" that I'm vegetarian or even all-organic... though both sometimes tempt me. I just want my kid to have EVERY advantage in life-- including a heart that isn't clogged and a butt that's not too badonkadonk to lift.

My point is: I failed. I am a hypocrite. If you ever want to do EVERYTHING you swear you wouldn't... become a parent.

PS. Later that day (when we were moving in our new entertainment center- woot), he discovered and half-devoured a couple Red Vines we had lying around. Nice, James. Nice.

Oh Becca :) I understand your resolve. I always thought that for after school snacks I would not let them eat cookies all the time. Yeah, so we just eat ice cream instead. But you know I think that you are an awesome mom and in no way failed your boy. So don't feel bad- I think you are great. And I adore that little boy of yours- red vines or not.

I hear you sista! I said the same thing and went through a terrible guilt phase (still in it) when we gave Kya her first "junk" food. Actually it wasn't even me, it was grandpa...blast! You only live once right? (that's what everyone tells me and I think...but I want to live a great life "once")

hee hee. Since James ate those red vines I am sure he will end up being held back in pre school or something. You are such a horrible mother!

I'm joking, I'm joking!

You'll get over the guilt soon. In a couple weeks you'll feel guilty for something else entirely. So it goes in the parenting game. Wait till you spend an hour watching your favorite TV program without saying one single word to your kid while he toddles around the living room entertaining himself. You'll feel bad about that too. :)

Nicole, did I tell you that I read the entire Twilight series in under a week? Needless to say, James is excellent at playing alone. :)

I love you all. And I admit that junk food IN MODERATION (servere moderation, for lil' ones) is totally acceptable. Still, for a one-year-old... it's hard to go from vegetable puree to french fries, ya know?

In any case, I ranted and raved yet again on a similar (aka THE SAME) topic on my "mommy blog" and would love it if you all read and commented on the oh-so-sweet post.

That being said, go to http://theyoungwivestales.blogspot.com/ -- or the link entitled "Young Wives' Tales" under "Inspire Me!" on the right-hand side of my blog. Notice the funny/creepy pic that I attached along with it. Mwahaha. Go USA!
