Because there were no pumpkins...

Since I often (aka: every day, sometimes several times a day) check YOUR blogs and think, "What? No new posts?" and then cry, I decided maybe I should post something new and stop being a hypocrite. Hopefully my fellow blog-addicts will appreciate my efforts. You're welcome.

Things are good here. Summer has finally come for us, and we are loving it already. Derek is working and flying still, but no actual class. I am teaching still, so no real change for me, but I still get Derek home more often... so life is automatically better! James loves having Mama AND Daddy home at the same time and spends his time looking from one of us to the other and grinning his ears off. Unfortunately, though, James' past little while has been... interesting.

A couple of weeks ago, he was really sick. He couldn't keep anything down, or up- for that matter. He was really sedated and sad. We were really scared. Our "little green machine" was used countless times (Thank you, Richelle & fam!). Then he peed blood and I was REALLY concerned. So I took him (and his diaper, that's right) to the doctor's, he peed in a bag (yes, bag)- which was later transfered to a cup (probably easier than aiming), and we found out he had a UTI. The doc said that baby boys his age don't just get bladder infections; usually it is the result of a more serious issue. Anyway, we got him on antibiotics for 10 days, then he peed in a bag yet again. In a few days, we should find out that his UTI has cleared up. Then they'll inject ink into his bladder (feel free to wince here) and do an ultrasound to see if it has refluxed back into his kidneys. If so, we will do whatever is necessary to fix that problem (with the ureters, etc). I'm not super clear as to what that entails, but I'm not sure I want to be. Clarity is scarier sometimes. So yeah, our little one has been sick.

Happily however, the barfing and dehydration went away, and he is (for the most part) back to his active, happy self. We, therefore, are back to our torturing and/or using our son as a prop. :) Here are a few pictures of May thus far:

Paper or plastic?

Our little non-stop crawler...
Even in the grass!
That's right, girls! He's all MINE!
B.F.F.
James LOVES opening and closing doors,
but he also LOVES sluggling with these bears (aka door stops).
He seems torn. Yet instead of compromising, he multitasks! :)
Eating yummy treats + Rubbing sleepy eyes =
I hope all is well with you and yours. I also hope you leave us an AWESOME comment. *wink* Have a great day. Buh-bye!

Poor little James! It sounds like he was sick for quite awhile. We've had stomach issues at our house the last week or so too....so not fun. That sounds scary the whole injecting ink into his bladder, hopefully all comes back well. I'm glad Derek is home more now, too bad that wasn't going on a few months ago when we still lived up there. What are your plans for summer?? Are you guys going to still make a trip down here? Hope so. Love ya!~cass

So cute! I can't believe those big blue eyes; he's adorable! So scary about his UTI--I really hope everything goes back to normal. Poor little James.

Thanks for commenting on my blog so soon. You're such a faithful reader. :) I was going to call you today because I wanted to go to Logan. If the rain clears up, perhaps I still will.

Thanks for posting so many cool pictures. And you're right, Derek is totally cute. James is totally cute, you are totally cute, and your whole family is just adorable!

Julie told me about that procedure James has to have. Thank goodness there are good doctors in Logan! Our family will have him in our prayers. If Gabriel can pray, "bless us with candy," I'm sure he's old enough to pray for James.

He makes for an incredible prop. His little sickness is so scary. Let me know how it goes and if you need anything. Soooo scary. I had no idea all of that was going on. I love his little leg up by the door. Man, that kid is bendy! (yes bendy is a word. MY word. and yes i know my comma is missing. that's all for you baby!) I can't believe James is a grass-crawler. Kona hated that crap. Still does. He has to have his shoes on. Every once in a while he's feeling ballsy and walks a bit in his bare feet.

Keep up the blogging. 4 posts a month is crap. I need to see James a lot more. And since I live so far away it's just ridiculous.

That is so sad. From personal experience, I know how he feels. Those are not fun. Let me tell you. I hope you find that it was just a bad case of a UTI, and nothing more serious. Not fun! I am sorry to hear your rough weeks, hope it gets better from here. You are in our prayers.

Just to be clear. The Macey's bag he is playing in is not the same one he peed in, right?

He is way cute. Glad he is feeling better.

He seems to like the shopping bag better than he liked the pumpkin, at least ;-).

I'm not good at the "awesome comments", but I'll leave a dull one :>! Poor little guy. Sicknesses are scary to me as a mom. I always experience sympathy sickness... when my kids feel sick, so do I! Hey, how do you know Paula?! I saw her comment... small world!
