James' First Haircut

Yep, that's right. James finally had enough hair to cut... though most were concentrated in the "horseshoe" and "combover" regions. :) We decided that although we adored his little curlies on the back and sides of his head and still thought he was super good-looking, he was over a year old now and ready for a haircut. He was looking a bit scraggly; we were ready to let him look his age, and Aunt Ashley was finally home from Alaska.

Conditions were perfect.

So we went to see Aunt Ashley in her salon, and she snip-snip-snipped away his curly-Qs. And what was left in the end? Only the studdliest lil' guy you've ever laid eyes on! James looks uber-great with his new haircut-- more like a boy than a baby, but then- he already sort of was. His hair is not too short, so I can still play with it (not like putting bows in, just running my fingers through it... it's so soft and wonderful). Ashley did a fantastic job, and Uncle Jon did a great job of distracting James from scissors and such (by squirting water into his mouth-- the kid loves spray bottles).

The haircut was a success! Here are some pictures to prove it:

isn't it funny how removing an inch of hair makes him look so grown up!

Thanks for your nice words, the more time goes on I think I really DO want THIS to be my day-job, so thanks for the encouragement, it means a lot!

And cute hair-cut James!

I love all the pics of James, he is growing so much, I was looking of pictures from last fall and he was so tiny! I can't believe how big he is now, he's a little man! Miss you guys!

We just did the haircut thing with Avery and it is amazing how much it makes them seem like little kids. It's exciting and a little sad all at the same time. I hope you had a wonderful birthday and got my message. Love Ya

Poor guy. How's he ever supposed to grow a respectable mullet if you keep cutting his hair?
