Halloween was really fun for us this year. James was at a good age to enjoy it... or much better than he was last year, anyway (last year, he hated his itchy costume and cried a lot). He seemed to know that something fun was in the air, and his excitement was contagious.
Our little smarty-pants (aka: parrot) would say "Hoween!" and "Happy" (though not together), and when asked, "What does a ghost say?" would reply "BOO!" :) It was all really cute.
In the morning/early-afternoon, we carved pumpkins (before Derek went to work). James really liked the "puh-keh"s. He kept trying to pick them up, and even succeeded a couple of times, though I freaked out and made him put them down. Seriously, I want grandkids someday, and I guarantee that that heavy thing would pull something! :) He's strong, though, I'll give him that.

Here are the finished products... Mine is the first one (surprised, goofy looking), and Derek's is the sharp-toothed one. Boooooo!
In the evening, James and I got dressed up. We went to visit "Daddy" at work; then we headed out to Shawn and Mindy's to join the cousins for some Trick-Or-Treating! Here are James and I at the beginning of our outing. (He's a lion; I'm a witch... if you couldn't tell.)
Here is James with his stunning, oh-so-beautiful cousins (minus Claire, who was an adorable piggy). Brynn is an "angel kitty" (sooo Brynn), and Syd is a "midnight fairy." BOTH of them are knock-outs! Watch out, boys!
Derek came to join us later. Guess what he was...
James got too tired and went to sleep right after Derek got there. Thank you, Jon, for standing in for our photo shoot! ;) Here we are.... the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe!
Yeah. We thought it was clever, too. :)We ended up foregoing our "other" party and staying at Shawn and Mindy's instead. We ate a DELISH dinner (super yummy garlic soup, lady's fingers, fresh fruit and "homemade" cider... mmm), watched a ridiculous-but-halloween-esque movie (Tremors... Pardon my French!), and magnadoodled our night away (I'm addicted. Lock your doors.). We got home and to bed around 2am...
What a crazy, spoooooky Halloween!

it looks like you guys had fun! james is so cute. and i like the pumpkins...so...nelson did NOT dress up (and i only did it for work)...i had a fake tattoo on my face, so i put it on myself. and i wore a wig...did all of my own makeup. it was fun. and i didn't go out...just went and stayed the night at annique's for a girls night (w/out my costume). :o) hope i didn't leave out any answers to all of your questions....
Cute costumes! I'm glad James had fun! He's adorable. and YOU'RE HOT! Didn't look very witchy...too pretty.
Looks like so much fun! Love your costumes.... when i was trying to guess I thought he looked like my bedroom floor. but you guys are so creative love that! Lion, witch and the wardrobe!!! You are so creative! Ours were nothing alike whatsoever. And I loved your pumpkins! so cute, we didn't carve pumpkins this year, we are lame. We miss our friends too much we are in mourning. Sounds like you guys had so much fun! And Becca you look amazing as a witch!
Cute! I love the costume idea. I was going to say Derek looked like a coat rack. At least I was close. :) I love the punkin pictures. Super-cute.
love it, love it, love it. your creativity is awesome and the costumes are just as great. so cute. love the little lion.
What a fun night!!! Love all the costumes especially the lion.. he is such a cutie, becca!
Oh look, you came over again! So glad you did. Again, a super duper fun evening with you guys. Is it you or is it me? Definitely you. Thanks for making our Hoween so fun.
BTW- After my headache went away I had some very nice alone time, but I missed you. :)
One more thing: I LOVE your new background/header. So cute!
My mom told me about how cool your Halloween costumes were. It was fun to be able to see them too! That is such a creative idea and so awesome to match. Your pumpkins are very scary. It sounds like James had all the pieces in place for a fun Halloween. It was 15degrees here, so my kids didn't trick-or-treat much. We still have half a cauldron of candy, so whatever is still left on Friday is getting thrown out!!! Halloween is fun, but that much candy is not fun when you visit the dentist.
That is such a clever idea. You are always so creative. Sounds like you had a good halloween. James is so cute.
That really IS clever!! When I was trying to guess what he was I was thinking Carson's side of the bed... seriously. James is such a cutie. It was fun to see you at stake conference Sunday! Isn't this just the best age for our kids? They're SO much fun and so stinkin' smart!
