My son is the smartest little thang I ever did meet! Really. Tonight I was trying to get him to obey me, and I did the "count to three" approach. I just said, "JAMES, ONE!" But instead of obeying (go figure-- he's smart and sassy), he added, "two" (in the sweetest little voice, I might add... there goes the discipline)! I was taken by surprise somewhat (He's said "four" in the correct succession before, as well as "six," but we thought they were hoaxes, ya know?), but added, "three." He continued with, "four." I added, "five," and so on. He did all of the evens. I was so DARNED proud!!! I know he probably doesn't understand exactly what they mean, but how did this adorable little boy learn how to COUNT??? Seriously, we've not drilled this. Anyway, I whipped out the camera to do the below video. He fumbled a bit due to camera-shyness (word?), but he did it again! Evidence! Then we called Daddy... and while dialing, I asked James, "Do you think you can count for Daddy?" And he just whipped out, "One, two, three, four!" Ha! I can't even tell you how beaming I was at this point. With a little prompting (i.e. saying "five" so he'll continue with the pattern), he can count FROM ONE TO TEN! Wahoo. What a smarty pants. I'm oh-so-proud of him. (Did I mention I'm proud??) ;)
Oh, and I got some new glasses. (Not the best self-portrait, but hey- what are ya gonna do?)

I'm thinking James must have been born knowing how to count to ten, but only with the recent development of increasingly coherent communications skills is he able to begin to express his abilities.
That's awesome! See if he can get to 20 by the time we get there.

NO WAY!!!!!! I am soooo impressed! James is a little smarty pants!!! He is just way too cute to as he is counting! Seriously way impressed that he did it in the right order, and has continually done it! You never know with math skills maybe he will be an engineer!

What a smart little cookie you've got there! The video is too too too cute. And you look awesome in your new glasses! I wish I could pull that off. I need glasses desperately but I refuse to wear them because I hate how I look in them.
