September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day (fer those o' yer scallywags who aren't be knowin'). Generally in this household, it is a highly-celebrated holiday, religiously followed to a T. However, somehow (TRAGICALLY) this year it was overlooked. Perhaps to commemorate the sadly-missed holiday, or perhaps just because it was fun, Derek found himself in the possession of a rather adorable looking shoulder parrot. Polly does not yet want a cracker, but you've gotta admit... he's pretty dang cute.

Hey, wasn't it at the pirate party that you met Derek? Maybe not, but it seems like it. I know there was a pirate party that year (2003), but maybe it was another Partio gathering where you met him. At any rate, James's face when he smiles is hilarious! Perfectly giggle-inducing, in fact!

No, it was a MARGARIT* party (without the A for alcohol--lol). But close. We did go to the pirate party; it was fun. Although I must say I enjoyed the margarit party better...

That is one cute parrot! You have to watch out for those parrots though, sometimes they leave a mark on their perch.
